Victorian Hanging Lamps
Victorian Era Hanging
Lamps combine some of most decorative period metalwork
with fine
Victorian glass shades. Parker, Rochester, Edward Miller, Bradley
& Hubbard, and Ansonia are just a few of the companies
that produced prismed library or parlor lamps. All types
of Victorian art glass are represented in the shades, fonts and
appurtances used on these lamps. Glass shades, fonts, and
smokebells were available in white Bristol skillfully painted
with florals or scenics; in plain or opalescent patterned cranberry,
ruby, pink, blue, amber, and vaseline; as well as Burmese,
Cut-Velvet, Cameo, and Mother-of-Pearl in many colors and
patterns. Every 19th century budget had a lamp available
for purchase, from a simple Cottage Lamp to an exceptional high
style Victorian art glass masterpiece in a fancy cast
frame. These kerosene oil lamps are highly prized by
today's collectors for their combination of delicate castings,
quality glass, and intricate engineering all in one lamp. If
